Boron Nitride(BN), Hexagonal boron nitride (H-BN), and hot-pressed boron nitride are good self-lubricate ceramic that can withstand high temperature and maintain their lubricating capability in a high vacuum environment. HM's Boron Nitride rods are made from hot-pressed boron nitride blank. Hexagonal boron nitride (H-BN) behaves similarly to graphite mechanically but provides amazing electrical resistance. Hexagonal boron nitride rods are particularly useful when the electrical conductivity of graphite would be a problem.

Boron Nitride Rod Advantages

BN rods are easily machinable, and they are with high performances:

  • Low wettability to molten metal
  • Low dielectric constant
  • Relatively high dielectric strength
  • Relatively high thermal conductivity with low thermal expansion
  • Relatively high thermal shock resistance
  • Extremely high working temperature with proper inert gas protection (>3000C has been recorded).
